Overview

TRC's Advanced Energy Research & Consulting team provides research, analysis, and strategic consulting services in the clean energy/energy efficiency space for some of the largest utilities and state/local governments in the country. We are purpose-driven team, helping our clients successfully navigate the transition to a clean energy economy. We advise them on business strategies related to energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, decarbonization, new and emerging market opportunities, and successful customer engagement, helping them to carve out a path toward the utility of the future.

The Project Manager role involves managing medium- to large-scale research projects of various complexities, day-to-day project operations, project documentation, and project reporting. You will work closely with the project management and delivery teams to assist in creating project plans, managing budgets, and reporting project conditions/status. As a Project Manager, you will report to the PMO (Project Management Office) Team Lead and will be working closely with cross-functional teams of Subject Matter Experts, Economists, Engineers, Researchers, and Analysts in a distributed environment. The primary measurements of success will center on successful management of assigned projects (on time/on budget), practical documentation, collaboration, proactive communication, and your ability to leverage project and financial management systems of record and reporting solutions.

The position involves frequent interaction with internal stakeholders, and occasional interaction with external stakeholders. The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with team members of varied backgrounds. This position requires flexibility; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and excellent organizational and customer care skills.

The selected candidate for this position will be assigned to the nearest TRC office to the home residence. Hybrid work is in effect for this role. Our team has concentrations in Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, or Oakland, CA, but we are open to candidates nationwide.


Responsibilities

Job responsibilities for this role include:

  • Establish and maintain high standards of work, communication, and deliverables.
  • Lead small project teams in successful execution of assigned projects, acting as a project advocate and point of communication.
  • Support project resource management, including ensuring adequate resources are assigned to the project, monitoring and reporting of labor hours against budget, and managing subcontractors.
  • Support project financial management
    • Ensure the project's budgeted costs and profits are met or improved.
    • Ensure timely and comprehensive change order management.
    • Facilitate efficient project billing, working within company's accounting practices.
  • Project schedule management including the development and upkeep of project schedules.
  • Project administration including the proper capture and filing of all project documentation, including contract documents, invoices, meeting administration (note taking, meeting scheduling), and project reports and communications.
  • Provide support for maintenance of SmartSheet project management information system, as well as suggest and implement improvements for how system is used.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to capture project plans, tasks, and dependencies.
  • Use designated systems, processes, and documentation methodology to track project status for reporting, efficiency, and strategy purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree, plus relevant experience
  • 2+ years of project management-related experience
  • CAPM or PMP certification
  • Ability to speak clear and distinct English

Highly Qualified Candidates will demonstrate

  • Project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Previous experience in Project Management process improvement
  • Ability to be a quick and eager learner of new material and think holistically about complex challenges with technical and non-technical components
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style that works well in teams
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with key stakeholder groups
  • Ability to drive big picture goals while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to effectively evaluate information and data to make decisions
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail to quality control the projects and create accurate project reporting
  • Experience with appropriate software tools is preferred (SmartSheet, MS Office, Deltek Vision)
  • Previous employment in a remote capacity or working with large, diverse teams
  • Both project management and power/utility industry or energy efficiency experience

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $75,000-$125,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
