Job Description
Position Summary

Assist customers and visitors at the Community Center. Ensure the Center's security, process activity registrations using the Department's operations management software, provide event services, and perform janitorial duties. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.
Part-time, Casual, non-represented position
4-18 hours a week, depending on availability and activities
Hours include evenings or weekend shifts
Bilingual Spanish speaker desired, but not required

Essential Functions

Greets and assists customers at the Community Center. Provides information, processes activity registrations, answers building-use questions, locates cleaning supplies and enforces City policies and procedures.

Enforces City policies and procedures.

Ensures the security of the Center's equipment and facility.

Provides indoor and outdoor event services such as event space set-up, clean-up, and event security for the Center's programs and rentals.

Performs janitorial duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning tables, chairs, windows and counters, and outdoor trash pick-up.

Processes payments for the Center's activities. Performs other related duties to assure City cash handling procedures are followed in accordance with City accounting policies and internal controls.

Answers phones, responds to routine telephone requests; refers calls and visitors to appropriate staff.

Performs other support duties as assigned.

Acts ethically and honestly; applies ethical standards of behavior to daily work activities and interactions. Builds confidence in the City through own actions.

Conforms with all safety rules and performs work is a safe manner.

Delivers excellent customer service to diverse audiences.
Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience
One year related work experience in building or janitorial maintenance or event services preferred; or any combination of education and experience that provides the employee with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently and handle a high degree of responsibility for both the quality of work performed and the security of the facility.

Ability to deliver excellent customer service to a diverse customer population.

Ability to be assertive, punctual, and enjoy working with a wide diversity of people and groups.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, staff and volunteers in a team-oriented environment.

Requires strong communication skills and high attention to details.

Ability to handle cash and process payments adhering to City policy.

Working knowledge of safe work practices, and ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment, (window cleaning spray, vacuum, mop and broom), to perform janitorial duties.

Requires an understanding of standardized rules, regulations and instructions. Routine decision making regarding assessment of immediate situations, available options, and selection of appropriate methods and procedures. Deviations from standard procedures generally require approval of the supervisor.

Special Requirements
Certified in CPR/AED, bloodborne pathogens and first aid within six months of hire.

Oregon Food Handler card required within six months of hire.

Oregon Liquor Control Commission service permit may be required.

Must be able to work during the major holiday seasons, during school spring, summer and winter breaks, and evenings and weekends.
