Supporting our youth for present and future success is what we do at OYA and your skills in the role of our Facility Sex Offense Treatment (SOT) Specialist is extremely significant.

Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a permanent, full-time Facility Sex Offense Treatment Specialist to provide sex offense-specific assessment and treatment in youth correctional facilities for youth who have committed sex offenses and have been ordered by the courts to complete sex offense treatment. This position works specifically with youth at Tillamook Youth Correctional Facility and Camp Tillamook.

A Day In The Life:

  • Assess sex offense treatment needs of youth
  • Develop individualized assessment driven sex offense treatment plans
  • Facilitate group and individual sex offense treatment
  • Maintain agency required written documentation of treatment for youth case files
  • Conduct family therapy as indicates
  • Conduct cross communication with staff, families, stakeholders
  • Participate in clinical supervision by statewide SO Treatment Services Coordinator
  • Work closely with Unit Leadership Team in the development and implementation of a safe and therapeutic milieu conducive to treatment for youth who have committed sexual offenses
  • Provide in-service training to unit staff at assigned facility(s) who work with youth who have committed sexual offenses.

  • Starting Salary Expectations: $68,964 yearly to $79,620 yearly; based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Working Conditions:

What We Are Looking For:

A Bachelor's degree in nursing or occupational therapy AND licensed by the State of Oregon AND three years of progressively responsible experience related to the series concept; OR

A Master's degree in psychology; social work; recreational, art, or music therapy; or behavioral health science AND two years of progressively responsible experience related to the series concept.

Special Qualifications:

  • Ability to be a Certified Clinical Sexual Offense Therapist through the Sex Offense Treatment Board within 3 years of time of appointment.
  • Driver's License: Driving is an essential function of the position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
  • A Qualified Mental Health Professional at the time of application.

    NOTE:To be qualified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional you must have:
    * Graduate degree in psychology; or
    * Bachelor's degree in nursing and be licensed by the State of Oregon; or
    * Graduate degree in social work; or
    * Graduate degree in a behavioral science field; or
    * Graduate degree in recreational, art, or music therapy; or
    * Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy and be licensed by the State of Oregon:

    AND

    Education and experience which demonstrates the competencies to identify precipitating events; gather histories of mental and physical disabilities, alcohol and drug use, past mental health services and criminal justice contacts; assess family, social and work relationships; conduct a mental status examination; document a multiaxial DSM diagnosis; write and supervise a treatment plan, conduct comprehensive mental health assessment; and provide individual, family, and/or group therapy within the scope of practice.
