Perioperative Purch/Inv Specialist ARRMC (Surgery)

Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.000000 | Full Time | Primarily Mon - Fri / 8AM - 5PM


Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Perioperative Purchasing/Inventory Specialist coordinates with their assigned department to maintain the supply levels and to ensure needed supplies are readily available, and to manage costs of operations. In the this role, the Specialist participates in research, interviews and negotiations with suppliers to obtain prices and specifications; compiles information to request supplies, materials, and equipment and completes requisitions; works closely with physicians, clinical staff, distribution and purchasing to standardize and improve the products as appropriate; and assists in the analysis of materials utilization costs and annual budgeting process. May also evaluate vendors and authorize requests within organizational policy; and may track orders and maintain ordering records and systems.

Qualifications

Education

  • Familiarity of medical terminology is required
  • Associates degree in health or business-related field, preferred

Required Experience/Abilities

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical services, Cath Lab materials management, or sterile processing area which provides knowledge of supplies and equipment utilized within surgical services function
  • Inventory Management skills
  • Knowledge of business practices and the healthcare environment or related
