Job Description

Sanipac, a Waste Connections site in Eugene, OR has an immediate position open for a Diesel Mechanic/Journeyman to perform repairs on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks. Individuals with 3+ years experience working on heavy diesel trucks are encouraged to apply.

The schedule is Monday-Friday 4am-12:30pm with occasional overtime.

This is a union position with great pay, benefits and a tool allowance! Starting rate of $31.58/hour.

Responsibilities include:

  • Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes along with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.
  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Drives service truck out to service our fleet on route as needed.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Performs maintenance related work as required.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 3+ years experience in a Diesel Mechanic role, waste experience preferred.
  • Class B CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Provide personal tools.
  • Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
