ATI is seeking a Process Engineer II to join our Technology and Quality team at Albany Operations, 34th Ave. As a Process Engineer, you will contribute to the strength of the entire facility and support a world class manufacturing company serving customers in the medical, energy, aerospace, and defense markets with products made from reactive metal alloys containing Titanium. Successful candidates will quickly learn to navigate ATI's process and quality control systems, become familiar with the diverse list of alloys and products serving a variety of industries, and be able to develop strong relationships and technical collaboration with our customers and internal cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process expert to support customer requests, specification reviews, deviation requests, process improvements, and qualifications.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of forging, pyrometry, mill product, and melting technologies.
  • Team with production and support staff to maintain material flow.
  • Support customer visits and audits on processes, products, and the quality system.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and events to improve process capability, reduce frequency and overall costs associated with nonconforming product, and eliminate waste.
  • Facilitate problem solving, risk analysis, and root cause analysis events with cross functional teams.
  • Assess and approve dispositions, corrections, and corrective actions on non-conformance incidents.
  • Work with operators, operations management, and other technical staff to determine best practice for each production process and establish standards and procedures.
  • Manage and expand Statistical Process Control (SPC) system at Albany Operations to track overall process performance including chemistry, yield, cycle time, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing or operations environment.

Preferences

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering or associated four-year technical discipline.
  • Experience with refractory and reactive metals or materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Skills & Abilities

  • Must have a strong aptitude for applying Engineering principles to solve manufacturing issues.
  • Must have sound judgment and be able to plan, organize and control multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to interact well with suppliers, employees, and customers are essential.
  • Knowledge and experience with vacuum metallurgy, forging, rolling, and other mill processing methods.
