Your Job

Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products division is searching for a Logistics Manager for the Halsey Mill located in Halsey, Oregon. The Logistics Manager is responsible for execution of efficient material movements in and out of the facility while leading the development of front-line leaders and hourly associates.


Our Team

The individual will report into the Mill Manager (VP - Manufacturing) and guide a large team of shipping and logistics professionals at the site, which is an integrated production operation with over 400 total associates.


What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of roughly 50 employees (salaried and hourly) in goal setting and performance for the logistics/shipping department
  • Responsible for ensuring the understanding and application of MBM on your team
  • Ensure team is actively involved in safety training and discussions to reduce opportunities for injury and property damage
  • Facilitate collaboration for the Halsey mill site with Koch Transportation, GP planning and deployment teams as well as external carriers.
  • Responsible for the management of inventory best practices to include cycle counting, safety stock management, storage best practices, FIFO, etc.
  • Responsible for safe and reliable operations of shipping vehicles. This includes manually operated mobile lift trucks as well as automated fleet.
  • Identify and execute cost savings opportunities through increased direct shipments (transfer avoidance), waste reduction, labor flow to work, etc.
  • Ensure all raw material movements are executed by team to ensure quality product is line-side to avoid delay on production assets


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 5+ years experience in a supply chain/logistics function
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience applying Lean principles in a shipping/logistics environment. E,g, Kanban, RCA, value stream mapping, Leader Standard Work, etc.
  • Experience in manufacturing production and/or material planning functions
  • Experience deploying and/or operating Laser Guided Vehicles (LGV).
