Job Description


MWH Constructors is currently seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant will be responsible for monitoring project budgets, analyzing financial data, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor project budgets and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures
  • Review and analyze project financial data, including expenses, invoices, and revenue
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including project profitability analysis and variances
  • Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate project costing and forecasting
  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and forecasts
  • Identify and communicate project financial risks and opportunities
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely project billing and revenue recognition
  • Maintain project accounting files and documentation
  • Provide financial analysis and support for project performance reviews


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or relevant professional certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting or similar role
  • Strong understanding of project accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial management software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams is a plus
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations is a plus
