Job Description

The rate of pay for this position is $82,000 annually.

Your New Role...

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger and performing month-end close procedures, including reconciling account balances, bank statements and payroll journals. Under general supervision, propose and implement fiscal policies and procedures. Collaborate with the accounting team to produce timely and accurate financial reports. Job duties include:

Transaction Processing/Analysis:
* Key contributor of the monthly close checklist and financial statement preparation.

* Perform month-end reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to, cash, investments, prepaids/other assets, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals, deferred revenue, net assets, etc.

* Perform revenue recognition procedures, including recognizing deferred revenue and releases from restricted contributions.

* Perform month-end allocation and journal entries for distributed direct costs and overhead allocation.

* Perform accounting and prepare financial statements for all subsidiaries.

* Ensure all accounting transaction systems are operating effectively, balances in the general ledger are accurate and transactions are recorded timely and accurately.

* Serve as a back-up for payroll processing.

Budget/Monitoring Activity:

* Analyze financial information and summarize for management.

* Monitor collections and run A/R aging reports, reconciled to General Ledger.

* Assist in implementing and monitoring fiscal policies and best practices.

* Assist in the development of the organizational budget.

Audit and Compliance
* Prepare documentation for financial audit

* Prepare documentation for 990

Skills & Knowledge:

* Desire to work with a multi-cultural staff from diverse backgrounds.

* Demonstrated ability to effectively develop financial statements according to general accounting principles (GAAP), analyze operations, and organize monthly accounting close process.

* Knowhow to effectively problem solve accounting and reporting issues, proactively respond to new program and financial needs

* Approachable disposition to effortlessly establish effective working relationships.

* Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and reasoning. Must have excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize with competing deadlines, be detail oriented, be a self-starter, respect and maintain confidentiality.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to successfully communicate plans and directions.

Education & Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience

* A minimum of five years of experience working in accounting or finance, preferably in a non-profit organization

* Experience with financial information systems and office software tools including NetSuite, QuickBooks, Paycom, Excel, Outlook and Concur preferred
