Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:
Two (2) years post-secondary with a concentration in one or more academic disciplines supported by .
Required Experience:
Two (2) years experience with individual and group college-level tutoring academic support or equivalent training or experience.

Position Purpose:
Part-time Academic Coaches focus on developing students' strategic learning behaviors and habits in our virtual and on-campus learning spaces.
Essential Functions:
  • Provides one-on-one and small group academic coaching and embedded support for students taking noncredit and credit-bearing courses
  • Discuss academic support needs with students and help students construct and implement academic success plans that include disciplinary-specific learning strategies, as well as strategies for time management, test preparation and taking, assignment planning and completion
  • At the request of the ATS coordinators, mentors student peer tutors
  • Communicates needs and observations from the day-to-day operations of the learning support zone's space to the ATS director and faculty coordinator when necessary
  • Perform front desk duties in both the online Lane Support Hub and in-person on-campus spaces.
  • Participates in planning meetings and job-specific professional development
  • Participates in creating and maintaining a positive team environment
  • Navigate digital class resources in Moodle and other online learning environments
  • Assist in connecting students to additional services available at Lane
  • Completes special projects and activities as assigned
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision Statement:
This position works with the Academic and Tutoring Services Coordinator team and reports to the Director of Academic & Tutoring Services.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.
