ROLE

Directs daily operations and manages supervisory staff. Prepares work schedules and assigns specific duties. Directs union labor, provides equipment needs, implements production reporting and monitoring, manages and mediates labor disputes, oversees employee discipline, prepares product inventory reports, and reviews overtime/manning reports and payroll tracking. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF SENIOR OPERATIONS MANAGER

  • Oversees the inspection of all working areas and equipment regularly to identify opportunities for improving the safety of employees and the public.
  • Investigates and reports accidents and injuries to Safety Manager and handles/resolves any service-related issues.
  • Conducts tours of the facility ensuring quality presentation while ensuring a safe environment for the tour group.
  • Assigns employees to a balanced workload and monitors employees to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Identifies all potential work rule/policy infractions and submits information to the Plant or General Manager.
  • Assists in the avoidance and correction of existing cases.
  • Directs the work of Operations Managers and union employees and administers the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Manages the inspection of outgoing loads to ensure product meets customer quality requirements.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the daily operations of an automated recycling facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

  • Management experience in an industrial, construction, manufacturing, recycling/waste management environment or related industry.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation.
  • Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
  • Detailed and varied procedures common to the garbage and recycling industry.
  • Technical knowledge of company services and processing equipment.
  • Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Class "B" Commercial Driver's License required upon hire or within six months of hire.
