  • The Lane Dental Clinic and Lane Community College are seeking hygienists who can work either on an as-needed basis or with consistent hours. The clinic coordinator will work with staff on hours and schedule based on the agreed upon commitment.
  • This is a professional dental hygienist, non-faculty assignment.
  • The Clinic follows the Lane Community College closure and holiday schedule.

What does the clinic do differently?

  • The goal of the Lane Dental Clinic is to provide the public with patient-centered, comprehensive, preventive and therapeutic dental care, while at the same time providing effective, practical, educational experiences for dental hygiene and assisting students.
  • Encourage the love of learning and service. Lane's Clinic specializes in treating patients without recent access to dental care.
  • Clinic staff provide teeth cleaning and restorative services with affordable prices to community members, students and those in need with dental expertise, compassion and kindness.

The selected candidate will:

  • Have a passion for serving others in their work and willingly mentor and develop Lane students to gain employment.
  • Contribute to a positive atmosphere of individual caring, dedication, and service in a fast-paced clinic.
  • Work with experienced Dentists who have committed to serving the community and training Lane students.

Salary/Compensation Statement:
  • This position is paid a stipend of $40 per hour.

Grant Statement:
Continuation of position is contingent upon grant-funding.
Working Schedule:
  • Up to 40 hour shift:
  • Possible Monday-Friday clinic time ranging from 7:30-5:30, possible Wednesday evenings and/or every other Saturday.
  • Tailored to schedule when DA's are available and Student Clinics are not in session.
  • Occasional or recurring schedule possible.

Required Education:
Graduated of an accredited dental hygiene program.

Required Experience:
Licensure or Certification Requirements
Registered dental hygienist with right to practice in Oregon (proof of license required).

Position Purpose:
To provide hygiene service to adults and children. To provide Lane Community College Dental Hygiene student training and positive mentoring.
Essential Functions:
  • Exhibit compliance with College policies and procedures, accountability for leave time, time sheet completion, release time, text book ordering and related functions
  • Sustain currency in discipline and innovations
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:
This position is supervised by The Dean of Health Professions.

  • Clinic work will be led by Primary Dental Assistants and Certified Clinic Dentists.
  • The Clinic Coordinator leads the work of the clinic, sets schedules, oversees daily operations, workflow, establishes procedures, gives input for clinic functions and develops organizational procedures
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sitting / Mobility: Approximately 25% of time is spent working at a desk. A balance of time (approximately 75%) is spent moving around work areas and chair-side assisting. Work Safely.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relations with faculty, students, and staff; communicate effectively.
