Our Georgia-Pacific mill in Halsey, OR is seeking an innovative and forward thinking individual to join our team as an Electrical Project Engineer - Power Systems. The Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in developing equipment strategy and project execution for power systems and high voltage equipment at the facility (i.e. substation, transformers, generators; primarily high-voltage applications). This individual will maintain equipment reliability through design and execution of effective programs and strategies to manage risk and mitigate the consequences of failures.

What You Will Do

  • Provide power system subject matter expertise to operators, maintenance, and reliability teams
  • Support the operation and maintenance of site power systems to include troubleshooting and planning of preventive maintenance
  • Manage capital and expense projects to include commissioning, testing, etc.
  • Provides engineering support to Maintenance and Operations (troubleshooting, problem solving, cost estimating and implementation of electrical design solutions)
  • Provide support to operational areas with emphasis on reliability improvements
  • Provide leadership to drive continuous improvement with asset and site reliability
  • Review plans for new equipment and contribute to the Design for Reliability process by validating reliability and maintainability of the systems
  • Actively participate in design and implementation of Asset Improvement Strategies for systems to improve production and uptime


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • 3 or more years of electrical design and/or project management experience in an industrial environment to include power distribution applications


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with pulp and paper manufacturing technology and systems
  • Experience with valves and instrumentation specification
  • Experience with three phase power distribution, including 480V motors with variable frequency drive configurations
  • Experience with AC/DC drives and motors
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Experience with reliability tools (Root Cause Analysis, Preventative/Predictive maintenance, KPIs)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
