Job Description

Overview of the Finishing Technician role

As part of our team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks to support the production of Rejuvenation lighting and hardware products. As a Finishing Technician, you will perform all processes in finishing department, with a focus on the painting operations using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) application equipment.

Specific Responsibilities*

  • Prepare surfaces and apply coatings to a variety of products/parts using standard methods. Primary applications are lacquer and polymer paint on brass and aluminum parts using HVLP spray equipment.
  • Organize, move, hang, and prepare parts daily for painting.
  • Other paint duties include proper paint preparation, sandblasting, grinding, buffing, and chemical treatment on parts to achieve the required surface finish.
  • Understanding of safety practices relevant to industrial painting.
  • Performs painting, spraying, lacquering, and powder coating application, utilizing all machinery and tools in a proper and safe manner.
  • Performs in line quality checks to ensure that established quality standards are being maintained.
  • Performs certain scheduled maintenance on designated equipment.
  • Collaborates with associates/teams to contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, efficient and accurate order completion, and problem resolution.
  • May be assigned to other functional areas based on business need and demand levels.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to constantly stand, walk, talk and hear. You must be able to frequently move, push, pull, lift, or carry heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds.

Criteria*

  • Knowledge of paint gun set up, operation and maintenance
  • 1+ year of industrial painting experience.
  • Experience in 2-part epoxy, and or lacquer application and operating an air-assisted, HVLP, and conventional systems preferred.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to operate hand tools.
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong listening skills and ability to follow direction.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing setting. There may be exposure to flying particles and airborne particles, chemicals, fumes, flammable materials, dirt, grease, and electrical equipment (Personal Protective Equipment provided). May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to humid, hot, or cold conditions.
