Function: Independently identify and resolve equipment malfunctions and then work toward resolution, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems, read schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronic units, write reports and record data on testing techniques, laboratory equipment, and specifications. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. Work typically requires an understanding of circuit interfaces, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, and complex computer control equipment. This position may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent GED
Successful completion of technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses from an accredited college.

Experience: A minimum of 6 years of work experience performing the stated function of an Electronics Technician II and demonstrated capability to perform the stated function.

Licenses and Certifications: Associate Certified Electronics Technician (CETa) Certification IAW Electronics Technician Association (ETA) International or equivalent.

Security Clearance: Secret
