We have the following position available:
Staff Engineer (Railroad)
The Staff Engineer for Railroad Design is responsible for the calculation, drafting and design of railway engineering projects and writing of technical specifications and reports under the supervision of a senior team member. The main responsibilities include railway engineering for the preparation of calculations, reports and design plans associated with railway projects; review of shop drawings and other necessary inspections and studies.

General Responsibilities
  • Performs railroad and civil design calculations for track alignment, track profiles, rail facility infrastructure, and rail operations
  • Prepares detailed engineering plans using the various Bentley software products (MicroStation and Rail Track)
  • Prepares quantity calculations, technical specifications, and bidding documents
  • Assists with feasibility/concept studies
  • Produces railroad track inspection reports
  • Works in a safe and efficient manner
  • Adheres to Company Quality Control procedures
  • Meeting attendance and preparation of detailed minutes
  • Coordinates with other engineers and support staff for conformance to design criteria, standards, and code requirements
  • Responsible for meeting assigned project goals & objectives, schedules, and budgets
  • Demonstrates excellent technical and professional engineering skills commensurate with years of experience
  • Possesses high initiative and desire to learn, grasp and apply engineering principles quickly. Willing to invest time learning engineering manuals, codes, and software to advance career
  • Demonstrates a proactive, collaborative approach with project team members, client representatives, contractors, review agencies and others as appropriate for the project
  • Possesses a focused results-driven attitude to deliver work in a complete prompt and accurate manner
  • Meets or exceeds client expectations
  • All work is performed under the supervision of others
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by managers within your group
Education/Skills/Knowledge
  • Willingness to learn and invest in professional development
  • BS in Civil Engineering (with a railway focus), required
  • E.I.T. desirable or attainable within 12 months
  • 0-3 years of progressive experience
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Previous experience with Bentley MicroStation, Rail Track, GeoPak, preferred
  • Strong technical written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas
  • Self-starter who can work independently or part of a multi-discipline team
