Job Overview

A Professor at the University of Cincinnati is expected to teach, conduct research, scholarly and other professional or creative activities. This position will support the University of Cincinnati's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all of our activities.

Essential Functions
  • As senior faculty, may act as a mentor for junior faculty, research associates, and graduate students
  • Provide input and make recommendations on departmental budgets, purchasing of technology and equipment, and potential disciplinary issues
  • Provide leadership role in meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching
  • Evaluate, design and revise curriculum for department and/or college
  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars
  • Mentor and advise students on their development, including choices relating to academic program, research projects, and possible career directions
  • Serve on college or university committees and participate in curriculum development activities
  • Engage and lead in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities
  • Render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual's academic specialty
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications
  • Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements

Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the requirements of the position. For positions within Performing and Studio Arts or Nursing, an appropriate Master's degree may replace the Doctoral requirement.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates for a tenured appointment should demonstrate intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential significant contributions to the department, University of Cincinnati, and wider scholarly community.

Must exercise self-discipline and have the ability to work with little direct supervision.

Possess outstanding leadership skills which demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.

Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format.

Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
